PEARLS & TARTAN

Lucky day ! as yiu know I love browsing in small antique dealers, hoping to find something that catches my attention, this time I found this beautiful peark necklace.Closing is in silver and so nice   the pearls are a gorgeous   that they seems true ones.
Needless to say  that in a minute it was into my bag! Could I give up to 20 euro to compete with Queen Elisabeth? This necklace seems so important that it will always worn with casual wear in a "easy way"....  is not a jewel!  Today I paired with tartan trousers byZara ,tween set  Ballantyne, coat by Massimo Rebecchi, Zanellato bag ...my beloved  Trickers  and on my wrist a watch and bracelet Merci (gift from my daughters ).

SPRING TIME COMES EARLY AT DIOR

A legendary American fashion designer once said that the secret of his success was that he designed dreams, not dresses. Yesterday it was entirely appropriate ,while the rest of Paris lay under a thick blanket of snow, The Christian Dior haute couture show took place in a spring garden, with models weaving between boxwood hedges and lush trees. Raf Simmon'Si strategy for Dior is a stark contrast to that of this predecessor John Galliano. The Dior story, as told by Simons  for a modern audience, embraces the fragrant femininity associated with the house.
the renewed energy around the house of Dior was reflected by a high front row : Anna Wintour
Antoine  Arnault Valerie Trierweiler  Bernardette Chirac Princesse Charlene de Monaco  Jessica Alba Natalia Vodianova Bernard Arnault Letizia Casta Carole Boquet

Vodianova  Bernard Arnault  Letizia Casta.

DEVOTION IS FASHION OR FASHION IS DEVOTION?

Dolce &Gabbana continue  their tribute to Sicily, to the culture , the beauty  and traditions. The Dolce& Gabbana fall Winter 2014 collection is centered on Devotion
devotion  to their hometown, devotion to tailoring , to precision  cutting  , to details, The embroidered popeline white shirts, the jacket  appears like a floral design like a painting of the 600 ' T shirts   with religious icone, the floreal printed sweaters   seems to  balance the  conservative  black  suits  or the elegant three  piece. For the second time in a row  Sicilisn man end guys were chosen by Dolce&Gabbana to present the new collection . The result was great, if I closed my  eyes I thought I was a sunny Sunday  in front of a baroque church after mass.

DOWNTOWN ABBEY STYLE

Starting from the popular and successful series of  Downtown Abbey, there are so many movies coming out this year that are set in the twenties and early thirthies , do  you think it will influence fashion and bring back these fabolous twenties and early 1930 silhouettes ? ...I 'll
think  for sure ......  faboulous girls  will wear vintage !

Can I suggest to read the caption ?

Ever notice how nobody wears her hair down at Downton Abbey? That's not by accident. Only little girls and "loose" women wore their hair down in those days. Wearing hair up, however, showed that she was ready to be presented — and therefore, courted — as a grown woman.

Rules dictated not only that women changed outfits for every occasion, but also that they updated their hairstyles accordingly. Between riding, sitting for tea, and having dinner, a woman like Mary could spend hours getting dressed and coiffed each day.
Upper-class women like Cora and Edith typically wore hats and gloves if they went outside. That's because a pale complexion, not a tanned glow, signified wealth and status. Fair, nearly translucent skin was desirable among nobles, especially if veins could be seen. (Hence the popularity of the phrase "blue bloods.")

As compared to Victorian styles, Edwardian fashion was looser and less restrictive. That's not to say that clothing was comfortable, though. Cora and her daughters would definitely have worn corsets beneath their clothing, which explains why they needed help dressing.

Hats,  usually topped with flowers or feathers, were de rigueur during the Edwardian era.

The lack of contemporary deodorants isn't to say that people smelled awful, though. Upper-class women like Edith might bathe every day — after, of course, a servant ran the bath for them. Some soaps, such as Yardley, that the Downton Abbey characters might have used are still around today.

During the Edwardian era, women washed their hair only once or twice a month. Sybil might have used bar soap or coconut oil to keep her hair clean.

Full brows were in fashion during the 1910s, but mascara took a while to catch on. Though it was invented in 1913, it would take more than a decade for women to wear it regularly.

As sleeveless dresses exposed the underarms, more and more women began to shave their body hair. And it happened quickly, too: Around the turn of the century, few women removed hair, but by 1915, the Milady Gillette razor was in stores.

Working women didn't catch a break from corsetry, either. Daisy, Mrs. Patmore, and the rest of the "downstairs" group would have worn corsets as they cooked, cleaned, and served in the home.

Lady Mary acquires an electric curling iron during Season 2. The newfangled invention had no heat controls, but it was much safer than previous versions, whose rods had to be heated in a fire.
