Smart  dinner party:        Cena elegante:

Se l'invito dice " cravatta nera" mi dispiace ma non potete esimervi dall'indossare nient'altro che uno smoking, o un vestito da sera, con papillon o cravatta nera, camicia bianca da smoking, calzino neroin seta, scarpe in vernice o nere lucidissime, e se volete dare un tocco di glamour potete indossare il gilet, la sciarpa o la fascia da smoking....ma non tutto insieme !!!!

If the invitation says " black tie" I'm afraid you cannot get awaay from wearing anything other than a a dinner suit, or tuxedo with a black silk bow tie, white wing collar front dress shirt, black socks and patent orwell polished black shoes: Add panache with some stylish evening accessories such a black waistcoat or black silk cummerbund ( but not toghether please)!

Per le cene elegante o quando l'invito dice " black tie optional", potete certamente indossare un vestito grigio scuro o blu.Date un tocco abbinando una bella cravatta in seta con pochette adeguata, Camicia perfettamente stirata,calzini in tinta con l'abito e scarpe nere.

For other smart dinner parties or events where the invitations says " black tie optional" , you can get away with wearing a duit , as long as it is in a dark colour  like navy or charcoal.Add a splash of character by adding a folded silk handkerchief to the jacket's top pocket, ideally on that complements your tie. Team your suit with a crisp cotton shirt in a classic solid colour like white or blue and add polished shoes in black.

Un semplice ritovarsi a casa di amici, o un invito ad un ristorante, il vestito non è richiesto. Potete indossare dei pantaloni scuri con una bella camicia , cravatta di seta e un blazer: Completate con calzini e belle scarpe classiche .

A small gathering at a friend's house. ouidoors or a restaurant may not require a suit jacket: Instead choose a crease- free pair of dark wool suit trousers and add a smart shirt ans silk tie : Finish off with smart leather shoes.

Ed  è ovvio che a questi inviti si debba porre particolare 

cura all'abbigliamento: un paio di jeans possono far pensare che siate degli " imbucati" e non c'è nulla di peggio di non sentirsi adeguati. Oltre ai jeans sono banditi pantaloni informali come il velluto, il cotone, gli shorts  T-shirts , polo canotte sono fuori discussione.

It sounds obvious but a smart dinner party requires smart attire. I've attended my fair share of dinner parties where a pair of jeans has crept in uninvited: And I also know ther is nothing worse than feeling undressed. As well as denim jeans, stay away from other casual trousers including cords , chinos, and shorts T-shirts polo , tank pops are also out of questions.

Qui certamente vorrete essere eleganti senza oscurare il capo, 
così dovrete vere un look informalmente elegante che non distoglierà l'attenzione dalla vostra  brillante conversazione . Questo significa  indossare colori neutri , abiti di buon taglio , evitare i colori sgargianti o le stampe hawaiane : dei bei pantaloni , stitati perfettamente , una bella camicia , anche button down , azzurra o bianca  e un blazer sarà perfetto.

Here you want to look smart without outshining the boss, so you need smart casual appareal that won't draw the attention from your scintillanting conversation : that means sticking to neutral colours and confortable clothing and staying away from brighy colours and busy prints , A pair of clean and well pressed wool trousers with a casual or button down shirt in blue , white or even pale pink is perfect.

Le riunioni informali sono le più semplici, perchè l'atmosfera è rilassante; jeans, pantaloni in velluto, pantaloni in cotone andranno benissimo, abbinateli a camicie casual, o polo  con blazer o pullover .

The most casual dinner are the easiest to dress  for because they are the most relaxed , Dark wash jeans , courduroy trousers or again a pair of chinos , would work well : pair these with a T- shirt and blazer or jacket.

 

What not to wear :    Cosa non indossare : 

Senza precisa indicazione, dimenticate shorts , canotte, felpe  e tute. La cravatta e lo smoking lasciatelo a casa nell'armadio .

Unless otherwise requested , stay away from shorts , tank tops, vests and trainers.leave the tie- and the tuxedo  at home.

Black tie

If the invitation says ‘black tie’ I’m afraid you cannot get away from wearing anything other than a dinner suit or tuxedo with a black silk bow tie, white wing-collar front dress shirts, black socks and patent or well-polished black shoes. Add panache with some stylish evening accessories such as a black waistcoat or black silk cummerbund (but not together please!)

Smocking

Here you want to look smart without outshining the boss, so you need smart-casual apparel that won’t draw attention away from your scintillating conversation. That means sticking to neutral colours and comfortable clothing and staying away from bright colours and busy prints. A pair of clean and pressed cotton chinos with a casual or button-down shirt in blue, white or even pale pink is perfect.

Qui certamente vorrete essere eleganti senza oscurare il capo, così dovrete avere un look  informalmente elegante , che non di
                                                         stoglierà l'attenzione dalla vostra brillante conversazione.....

Of course some restaurants are smarter than others so it is worth doing your research beforehand. For what to wear to a smart restaurant, see ‘smart dinner party’ above. For a more casual establishment, chino trousers or even a pair of dark wash jeans will suffice. Team with a casual shirt and a pair of loafers or deck shoes. A wool blazer will provide the perfect finishing touch.

Naturalmente alcuni ristoranti sono più eleganti di altri, così informatevi prima di andarci.
Per un invito in un ristorante elegante  vedi sopra  "smart dinner party".  Per un ristorante
più informale , un bel paio di pantaloni in cotone , o dei jeans scuri sono  consigliati.
Abbinateli a camicia casual  e mocassini, un bel blazer anche in lana completerà l'insieme.
