" Dall'alto della terrazza del Gange View guardavo ogni mattina il sole sorgere  dall'altra riva del Gange  e sulla mia riva  la folla dei fedeli......."


Il ricordo della lettura di questo libro  in cui si parla di  questo albergo sulle rive del Gange è  riafforato nel momento della pianificazione del nostro viaggio in India .Dopo qualche ricerca siamo riuscite  ad avere una prenotazione per  il nostro soggiorno a Varanasi.
Il Gange View Hotel è un piccolo e modesto hotel pieno di fascino che si affaccia sulla riva del fiume Gange  proprio in uno degli ultimi ghat . 
Dal suo terrazzo  all'alba  si può godere  il  magnifico spettacolo del sorgere del sole e la vista 
della folla che ogni mattina  si immerge nelle acque del fiume sacro per il rito di purificazione  in mezzo a canti preghiere e suoni di campanelle , mentre  sulle scalinate  il  fuoco delle pire continua a illuminare la riva del fiume .Il continuo andirivieni delle processioni dei vivi e dei morti  l'incessante lavoro degli addetti alla predisposizione delle cataste e del fuoco  in mezzo all'indifferenza generale  è per la  nostra cultura occidentale fonte di grande riflessione . Pochi metri più in là avvolta in una leggera caligine la gente si appresta ad affrontare un nuovo giorno.
La mia abitudine di alzarmi prestissimo al mattino mi ha permesso di scendere in pigiama (Marc Jacobs - docet) i pochi scalini che separano l'hotel dalla spiaggia e socializzare con il barbiere , con l'insegnante di yoga , le gentili signore che intrecciano ghirlande di fiori, e a tutti  una promessa : see you again !

Remembering what I've read on this book about this hotel at the bank  of the holy river,  when we 
started to plan our  trip in India   we made some research and we were able to get a reservation in this hotel for our stay in Varanasi. 
the Gange View Hotel is a  small tiny  charming hotel overlooking the river Gange in one of the just last ghats.From its terrace  you can enjoy the magnificent  spectacle of  sunrise  and  the view
of the crowd that every morning plunges into the waters of the sacred river  for the ritual purification, in the midst of chants and sounds of bells, while on the steps the fire of the pyres continue to illuminate the river. The coming and going of the procession of the living and of the death, the cheasless work of those involved in the preparation of the pile and the fire, in the midst of general indifference to our Western culture is a source of  great reflection. a few feet away, wrapped in a light mist people is going to face a new day. My habit to get up early in the morning
allowed me to descend (with my pajamas - Marc Jacobs docet) the few steps that separated the hotel from the beach and socializing with the barber , the yoga teacher, the nice ladies,who  weawe  garlands of flowers, and to all a promise:
see you again !

STRAWBERRY & VINTAGE

La domenica mi piace   preparare qualche dolce e le fragole mi hanno ispirato  questa bavarese che ho decorato con le prime foglie di menta . Mi sono divertita ad indossare  un golfino vintage in cachemire  e un camicia in seta   marron foncè con dei piccoli fiori stilizzati che riprendono i colori delle fragole e della menta.....i miei due amici orsi sembrano approvare   e voi?

On Sunday I enjoy to bake some cake , yesterday the I was in "stawberries mood".   I 've decorated the " bavarese" with the
first mint leaves from my balcony. I  joked trying to match an outfit with the color of the cake:  from  my closet  a vintage cashmere sweater and a middle brown silk shirt printed with small red and green flowers  just like the strawberries and the mint ;my beloved  friends seem to approve , what about you?

Io non snobbo la Festa della Donna. Non la trovo anacronistica, tantomeno offensiva. Non sono di quelle donne che rifiutano la mimosa o che vorrebbero istituire, per parità, anche la Festa dell'Uomo. "La Festa della Donna dovrebbe essere ogni giorno", dicono. Vero. Verissimo. Ma vi sembra che lo sia? No. E allora almeno per un giorno festeggiamo. Festeggiamoci. Non facciamoci festeggiare dagli altri: dagli uomini, dai nostri compagni, dai colleghi, dalle amiche, sorelle, madri o figlie. Festeggiamoci.

Ne abbiamo un gran bisogno. Perché se non riusciamo a festeggiarci noi stesse, da sole, non ha alcun senso che lo facciano gli altri. Io dico che in questo 8 marzo dovremmo fare onore alla Festa della Donna, non più e non solo per con l'intento di ricordare le conquiste o le discriminazioni, ma soprattutto per prendere coscienza di noi stesse e sviluppare un senso critico rispetto a modelli culturali inopportuni di cui ci rendiamo vittime con le nostre stesse mani. E oggi per festeggiarmi meglio io voglio anche la mimosa.

La voglio come nel 1912 le operaie tessili del Massachusetts dicevano "Vogliamo il pane, ma anche le rose" e per usare le parole di Alina Marazzi, che da quello slogan ci fece un film, dico che "Forse il necessario, il pane, è dato per acquisito. Ma le donne si sono battute per un mondo che desse spazio anche alla poesia delle rose. Ed e' una battaglia più che mai attuale." La "poesia delle rose" per la quale oggi dobbiamo lottare e ricordaci che c'è ancora tanta strada da fare (una strada nuova, che rappresenta nuovi temi per il femminismo) è quella dell'autoindulgenza, dell'autostima, dell'essere gentili con noi stesse, piacerci per quello che siamo, senza l'ansia di volerci per forza cambiare per assomigliare a stereotipi nocivi.

Per questo allora festeggiamoci, e cominciamo a farlo oggi, provando a liberarci dalle gabbie in cui ci siamo inviluppate: noi che viviamo giornate funamboliche convinte di dover riuscire a fare tutto; noi che ci sentiamo sempre in colpa per non riuscire a fare tutto; noi che non siamo mai abbastanza giovani, belle, magre; noi che ci ostiniamo ad ossessionarci per la perfezione; noi che quella perfezione non la raggiungeremo mai perché per definizione è irraggiungibile, è una mancanza cronica.

Gloria Steinem diceva "non è che l'autostima sia tutto: è solo che senza di quella non c'è niente". Allora, magari trasformiamo questa Festa della Donna in una festa dell'autostima. Oggi non sentitevi in colpa, non cercate di essere perfette, siate auto indulgenti, smettete la dieta, e mostrate le vostre debolezze. Regalatevela voi la mimosa. Scegliete se il fiore, o la torta. Io credo che propenderò per la seconda.

Parlami di te

"Ma che cos'è questo blog  ? mi fai vedere " ? questa erano  le domande che ricorrevano in casa nostra quando sentivo mia  figlia parlare di blog , di outfit , di post . Piano piano ho iniziato ad osservarla con più attenzione per  meglio capire i meccanismi  , ed ho realizzato   che  mi interessava moltissimo ;  dentro di me cresceva la convinzione  che  assolutamente avrei voluto il  "mio blog". Finalmente il fatidico giorno è arrivato e " The White Cabbage" ha pubblicato il primo post !  Ricordo ancora le poche foto sfocate  che sono riuscita faticosamente a caricare , la trepida attesa di qualche commento , il pudore  e  l'imbarazzo nel postare la mia prima foto, ma  la consapevolezza di avere molte cose da dire mi ha sempre sostenuta . Adoro  rapportarmi con tante blogger giovanissime , sono energetiche , vivaci, allegre ,piene di fantasia . Sono consapevole di essere una blogger  atipica , ma questo lo considero il  mio punto di forza , sono piena di entusiasmo ,  alla mia età si ha più esperienza , c'è un diverso modo  di  vedere le cose anche per ciò che riguarda  il fashion e lo shopping, che indubbiamente si focalizza meno sulla quantità e più sulla qualità, sul particolare, sul dettaglio che può fare la differenza. Vivo a Udine una piccola splendida città di Provincia e il mio goal è quello di vedere  molte signore della mia età uscire dai vecchi schemi e da logiche ormai superate ed approcciarsi al mondo web con più disinvoltura, vorrei vederle leggere la sezione ItFashion di Grazia.it consultare siti web, accedere a Facebook, fare acquisti online e non sentirmi più dire : "ma sei matta? ti clonano la carta di credito.!  Che dite ci provo a farle diventare blogger?... poi  tutte al contest di Grazia.it  !!!


"What's a blog?  may I have a look ? "This were the questions that recurred in our house when I heard my daughter speaking of blogs, outfit, post. I began observe  carefully to better understand  how  does it work, and  I've realized it was quite interesting  and that I absolutely wanted to have "my blog". Finally the great day arrived and "The White cabbage"  published the first post ! I still remember  the few blurry photos I could hardy upload,the anxious waiting  for some comment , the shame and embarassment in posting my first picture , but  i felt enthusiastic , and none could stop me in my projects .I love being in friendship with  so many  young bloggers they are energetic , lively, cheerful , full of fantasy. I am aware of being an " atypical blogger" but I consider it being my strong point. At my age I have more experience , there i a different way in  seeing and doing things and for what concerns  fashion and shopping I've learned  to focuses  less on quantity  and more on quality, the particular , the details  that can make the difference . I live in Udine  a small  beautiful town in the province, and my goal  is to see many ladies of my age out of old patterns and outdated logic and approach the web world  with more ease . I would like to see them read the section of Grazia.it, ItFashion consult websites , access Facebook , online shopping , and no longer hear them telling me  " are you crazy ? they will clone your credit card "! What do you think shall we try to make them become bloggers?  next step the contest Grazia.it.!

 Per anni , in  America il problema dell'obesità dell'infanzia è stato considerato un problema insormontabile,
che era troppo complicato da affrontare  per cercare una reale soluzione.. Secondo  un pensiero comune ,
il cibo sano e frugale non era molto apprezzato , e mancando la richiesta  da parte delle industrie non era ritenuto conveniente investire  in quel segmento , e gli alti profitti venivano trovati altrove , perchè i profitti on erano bassi  e l'attività considerata poco redditizia..............................................

Sabato  mattina  un giro in centro a caccia  di  qualche buona occasione negli ultimi giorni di saldi .Il mio obbiettivo erano le gonne  , ma non ho trovato  nulla di interessente , così ho  pensato che  forse era arrivato il momento di provare con  una sarta. Ho cercato il tessuto perdendomi  in mezzo alle stoffe, ma è stata un'esperienza molto divertente ,  mi sono sentita piuttosto inesperta  fra tanti tessuti e senza l'aiuto  e la competenza  della gentilissima commessa vi assicuro che sarei uscita a mani vuote .   Dopo tanta indecisione ho scelto  tre tagli  che diventeranno delle gonne ( speriamo bene).Il primo è  in cotone con delle stampe  bianche , nere marron e verde acido. , che porterò in estate  con accessori neri o testa di moro.

Il secondo tessuto è maglia di seta nera con delle stampe in turchese e rosso,  che mi hanno ricordato i tessuti di D&G, questa gonna la indosserò    anche in inverno con calze coprenti o stivali. Il tessuto rosso è uno spendido  e costosetto chiffon di seta  molto leggera che diventerà una bella e svolazzante gonna  per qualche occasione un po' più elegante.

Adesso mi dovrò dedicare alla  ricerca di una sarta ...auguratemi buona fortuna !

Saturday morning downtown looking for some bargain in the last days of sales. My goal were the skirts, but I have not found anything of interest , I thought maybe in was time to try a stylist.

I went in a fabric shop , losing myself in the middle of the cloth , But it was a lot of fun. I felt rather naìve  , and I admit that without the precious help of the gentle shop assistant  i assure you

that I would be leaving empty -handed. After much indecision I chose  three cutss that will become the skirts ( hopefully good). the first one is cotton  with prints black, brown, and lime green: That  for Summer  to pair with black or brown accessoires .

The second fabric is knitted clack silk with prints in turqoise and red , wich reminded me of the tissue of  D&G , I'll wear this skirt  even in Winter with black tight or boots.

The red fabric is aprecious and very light silk chiffon that will become  a beautiful flowing skirt 

for any  occasion a little more elegant .

Now I'll have to spend in finding a stylist .....wish me good luck1!!!!!
